Strategies for Justice and Inclusion in Early Childhood Care and Education

Participants will engage in strategies for social justice and inclusion of children and families including the use of persona dolls as tool to teach young children about social issues that directly effect their lives and experiences. Participate in a discussion of the children’s story, "Beat the Drum", about the complexities of intersectionality in work with cultural and gender norms. Engage in an interactive workshop teaching how to weave identity learning together with art materials and loose parts at home or in the classroom. Join an affinity group conversation about current social justice issues, priorities, and needs of children, their families, childcare centers, and adults providing childcare and begin brainstorming how to combat those barriers.
