It is well known that literacy development and reading to children is an important aspect of development. This workshop will take this knowledge to the next step by focusing on the intentional use of research based strategies to promote oral language development. Vocabulary scores in kindergarten are highly correlated with fourth grade reading scores, high school graduation and advancement to college. This workshop will offer concrete, hands on strategies that can be used when reading, playing, and engaging in daily routines with children to assist them in developing their oral language skills.
