Fostering the Development of Number Sense in Young Children

Reading is everywhere. We read to our children, sing the ABC's and help them write their name. What about math? How do we make sure our children are developing skills needed for math success? This workshop is designed to help teachers, parents, and childcare providers develop an understanding of the aspects of learning unique to young children, the essential concepts of number sense, and how to enhance their current practices and curriculum for maximum learning. Through hands-on experiences, participants will explore their own intuitive feel for numbers and numerical relationships as they are introduced to instructional activities and techniques that promote thinking and communicating about numbers.
