Being More at Ease with Children Who Have Special Needs
Getting past the labels and fears to see the individual child’s strengths and learning styles helps support the caregiver, child and family. This training will explore:
- Children’s similarities
- Behaviors
- Learning styles
- Adaptations and modifications
- Communication
- Helpful learning strategies and techniques.
Supporting children who have special needs requires knowledge of what works and a commitment to meeting the needs of all children.
Trainer: Mary Ross, M.S. Early Intervention/ Early Childhood Intervention. Mary has worked with the families of infants and toddlers with disabilities for 23 years. Starting as special education paraprofessional, she returned to school to obtain her master's degree and has worked as a certified teacher for Early Childhood Intervention for the last 15 years. She received training in Brain Development and Effects of Trauma and Neglect under Dr. Bruce Perry. Mary and her hasband are the parents of 5 grown children, and grandparents/ great grandparents of 2 amazingly energetic little boys.
