Teaching Children through Visual Supports

Gain insight on using visual supports to teach classroom expectations, routines, social and cognitive skills as well as to improve behavior. Why visual supports work, examples of picture schedules, tips on using social stories, and time for participants to practice using these techniques will be included in the training.

Trainer: Maggie Callery works with AmeriCorps as the Inclusion Support Specialist at SOESD Early Childhood Services, which provides Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education Services in Josephine County

Maggie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Family & Human Services from the University of Oregon with a focus on early childhood development and five years of experience working in early intervention with children with special needs, English Language Learners, and children who have experienced abuse and neglect.  She plans to complete her Masters’ Degree in Early Intervention in 2013.
