Safety 1st-The De-escalation Process for Behavioral Management
Explore the use of a common language and definitions for Positive Behavior Intervention Supports and the de-escalation process. Participants will examine application of first response strategies: how and when it is appropriate to use and implement LEAD (Label, Envelope, Assist & Direct). Class will examine procedure implementation for consistent documentation and communicationj with staff and families. This process will assist to make data based decisions, know when to establish individualized function based support, as well as have a plan for teaching/informing families and children the Safety First Process and when to use it.
