Foundations for Learning & Development

This 18 hour unit serves as a foundation for the other units in the TRAC Curriculum and includes information that will enable participants to have an understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate practices and the inclusion of child with special needs. In addition, participants will be able to use a variety of interaction strategies, be able to design an environment appropriate for all children, learn some strategies for teaching social skills and a process for developing behavior intervention guidelines. Finally participants will learn about using a manager role in the classroom and communication strategies to enhance the quality of their work. Participants attending this session will leave with an idea of additional units they would like to complete as well as a work plan for implementing skills learned in training.
