OregonASK Quality INSIGHT Learning Community

Join this cohort to engage in conversations about your program’s quality practices and identify actionable areas for intention. We will meet 6 times between October and January to dive deep into Oregon’s Quality Standards for Afterschool and Summer Programs, discuss program data collected between sessions, create an action plan, and build connections with out-of-school time providers across the state.

Introduction to the Quality INSIGHT Community of Practice
Date/Time: Monday, October 19, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Description: Participants will be introduced to the importance of high quality youth programming and the Oregon Quality Standards. Participants will preview the cohort calendar and methods they will use throughout the Learning Community to collect program quality data, which will lead to a data-driven action plan and identified supports. At the end of the session, programs will submit their registration.

Introduction to the Quality INSIGHT Learning Community Cohort
Date/Time: Monday, October 19, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Standard Focus: Environment, Health, and Safety / Families, Schools, and Communities
Date/Time: Tuesday, November 3, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description: Participants will interpret the Oregon Quality Standards “Environment, Health, and Safety” and “Family, School, and Communities” and discuss high quality practices that align with these standards. Participants will discover methods for objective observation and outline their bi-weekly plan for data collection.

Standard Focus: Highly Skilled Personnel / Program Management
Date/Time: Monday, November 16, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description: Participants will recall and discuss the observational data they collected on the “Environment, Health, and Safety” and “Family, School, and Communities” standards. Participants will interpret the Oregon Quality Standards “Highly Skilled Personnel” and “Program Management” and discuss high quality practices that align with these standards.

Standard Focus: Programming and Activities / Youth Development and Engagement
Date/Time: Monday, November 30, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description: Participants will recall and discuss the observational data they collected on the “Highly Skilled Personnel” and “Program Management” standards. Participants will interpret the Oregon Quality Standards “Programming and Activities” and “Youth Development and Engagement” and discuss high quality practices that align with these standards.

Planning for Intention
Date/Time: Monday, December 14, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description: Participants will recall and discuss observational data they collected on the “Programming and Activities” and “Youth Development and Engagement” standards. Participants will then identify areas of strength and intention across all standard domains, and complete a root cause analysis. This process will result in a SMART goal and action plan.
CKC/Hours: Set ONE/PM/2 hours

Preparing for Action
Date/Time: Monday, January 11, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Description: Participants will complete and refine their action plans from the previous session. Participants will share and discuss their actions plans, potential challenges, and anticipated support needs. Participants will engage in a peer support activity to brainstorm additional challenges and identify supports for addressing their action plans.
