SEIU-First Steps in Inclusion
Understanding Sensory and Behavioral Responses

This beginner level training introduces early childhood educators to the foundational understanding of how sensory experiences and behavioral responses are connected in young children (ages 0-5). Participants will explore how to recognize when a child’s actions might be related to sensory processing rather than intentional behavior, learn ways to observe and respond with empathy, and gain simple strategies to support inclusion and comfort in early learning environments.
