Introduction to Every Child Belongs service and the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Program
Building Bridges for Child Care Providers

Many providers have experienced an increase in child behaviors, and express concern over child mental health and their own capacity to manage behavior in order to successfully serve the child's social and emotional development and to maintain care. To address this, Child Care Resources (CCR) has implemented the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program (IECMHC) accessed through the Every Child Belongs (ECB) service.

In this training, participants will learn about how accessing ECB services, and imbedded IECMHC support can reduce the rates of suspension and expulsion through individualized support, onsite coaching, reflective supervision, and professional development. We will discuss mental health basics for children 0-5. Participants will identify strategies that benefit mental health to incorporate in program practice, including developmental screening, family communication, child observations, and social-emotional professional development

IECMHC is a prevention-based approach that offers culturally responsive and equity-centered consultation services to child care providers to support young children’s social and emotional development. It is designed to aid providers in preparation of the legislative ban on suspension and expulsion July 1, 2026.
