This workshop deals with family economic conditions and lifestyles. The information is based on work by eductional researchers and others who depict the stark but often overlooked differences among lower, middle and higher income families and how they each must have certain skills to interact and survive in their world. We will talk about the definitions of poverty, societal perceptions, survival mechanisms and implications for teachers.
