Conversations, Explorations and Planning
Participants will
• Describe children’s characteristics, strengths, needs and challenges
• Identify developmentally appropriate expectations for children’s behavior, skills, and learning
• Identify/prioritize key goals and objectives to work on with children at the start of the program year
• Use the above information to
o Create a workable classroom layout
o Select and display engaging materials
o Create a predictable/flexible daily schedule
o Plan purposeful learning activities
• Identify available classroom curricula and other professional resources that can guide day-to-day work with children
• Create a “Preparing for the Year” To Do list
