Year- End Open House at Chemeketa Child Development Center
You'll have the opportunity to network with other early childhood professionals, gain curriculum inspiration and learn more about Chemeketa's Early Childhood Education degree program.
Come be inspired by the indoor and outdoor learning environment at the Chemeketa Child Development Center laboratory school. Participants will explore a range of activities and discover how the variety of beautiful and layered spaces support all areas of development through a focus on unscripted play. We will discuss how the emergent nature of the environment and curriculum lead to a culturally and developmentally responsive experience for children and families. We will also consider how the environment impacts children's behavior and supports social and emotional development. Hands-on activities will include literacy, math, science, and adventure play.
Objectives:
Participants will explore the importance of unscripted play through developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Participants will understand the use of outdoor spaces as an extension of the indoor classrooms.
Participants will understand the role of the classroom environment in developing a culturally and developmentally appropriate curriculum
