Hunger and Health-Reimagining Food Banking
Lindsay & Eddie will start the session by sharing OFB’s Equity Commitment (https://www.oregonfoodbank.org/equity) and resources/training opportunities available to anyone interested. We will briefly share some data about the status of food insecurity in our area as well as share the work OFB-SOS is doing locally to advocate for food for all and continue to build community power. In addition, we will discuss our plans for a new warehouse and community food center in Ontario to create a more just and equitable food system for our region. There may also be opportunities to provide input on some design elements for the proposed food center.
For the interactive portion of the workshop, we will provide a menu of health equity issues for the participant group to select from to demonstrate what an “Equity Think Tank Session” looks like and how they might use it within their organizations. Equity Think Tank is a conversation tool used internally at OFB to discuss and collectively problem solve equity concerns identified within our organization or network.
