Best Practices for Working with Families with Gender Diverse Children
In Oregon and in many places in the United States, the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender and gender-expansive youth, are facing increased pressures. Family acceptance of a child's gender identity is a critical factor in that child's development. In this workshop, participants will define terms and concepts associated with trans and gender-creative people. These practices will be applied to scenarios that you might hear in your childcare, school, or home settings. Finally, children's books that affirm all kinds of people will be explored. Participants will leave feeling more confident and empowered to support the families and children they work with.
