This workshop will take place in person at the Chemeketa Center for Business and Industry- Salem, Oregon.

Facilitated by Ginny Harmelink Currently faculty at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ, Ginny has spent her life working with children and families. Growing up in Wyoming, she operated the first nationally accredited home child care program for 17 years, while working on her graduate degree in early childhood education. Creating positive learning experiences was always the goal of Ginny's Preschool and Child Care program and continues to be embedded into the coursework taught to students pursuing an early childhood degree at the college level. Pulling from many theories of development and learning, the integration of subjects and intentional focus on assessment provide evidence that supports the child in being the driver of their own learning. Integrated Curriculum for Young Children will be published in the Fall by Goodheart-Willcox. This text features a solid foundation of DAP, play, community, and theory as the basis for planning curriculum using a framework called backward design. Images used throughout the text include early childhood classrooms from across the world, and meant to inspire future teachers.
