Meaningful Movement
Growing Healthy, Active Kids

Child care providers have a unique opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles for infants, toddlers and preschoolers simply by the way their programs are structured. Children learn through interaction with their environment. The intentional inclusion of movement and activity in the learning environment enhances early brain development, visual and auditory processing and motor planning. Since physical activity for young children is not the same as it is for adults, his workshop will guide participants in designing movement programs to meet a child’s developmental level that is playful, simple, creative and success-oriented. The benefits of outdoor play and time in nature will be highlighted with a focus on the care provider’s role in facilitating movement opportunities.
