Using Observation and Assessment to Guide Children’s Growth and Understanding

We will discuss how using purposeful observations and documentation can provide you with information to guide children in their social-emotional, physical, and academic learning. We will go over the many ways that you can document children’s understanding, skills, and interactions. Documentation can provide you and parents with data that can identify areas in which a child may need extra focus, or to celebrate the child’s individual successes. We will also have a brief overview of screening and assessment tools such as ASQ and CDC milestones that you can use as a starting point to assess children’s growth and understanding.
