Reducing Challenging Behaviors in the classroom
Exploring the current theories that explain negative behavior in young children as well as classroom/staff strategies for reducing these behavior

During this two-hour session, we will be exploring the current theories that explain negative behavior in young children as well as classroom/staff strategies for reducing these behaviors. We will look at how using Positive Behavior Supports, developmentally appropriate programming, reinforcing positive behavior through incentives, evaluating skill deficits that elicit challenging behaviors, co-regulation as a precursor to self-regulation, and using Ross Greene's basket theory as a means of tackling the most challenging behaviors.
