Powered by STEAM: How Early Learning Educators Can Support Young Children’s Joy in Science, Exploration, and Purposeful Tinkering

In this interactive session, participants will explore the exciting and meaningful ways that early learning educators support young children in their early explorations of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics without always realizing it. We will explore what it means to tinker, discover, make meaningful mistakes, and to grow as STEAM leaders in our early learning community.

Learning outcomes: Throughout this session presenters will

* Explore the many ways that their learning environments can facilitate meaningful conversations and engagement
in STEM-related areas
* Consider how everyday materials can introduce, support, and extend children’s exploration in Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
* Discover the role of ART to provide a bridge between children’s understandings and STEM mindsets
* Develop ideas for classroom activities to support children’s active engagement as well as family and community
partnerships
