Communication Strategies: A Developmental and Relational Approach

Using the Positive Behavior Supports Pyramid as a basis to our conversation we will look at how children learn and what communication patterns are most effective for working with young children. We'll begin with building rapport and positive limit-setting. We'll use this model to examine parallels between effective classroom management and effective team building and adult to adult communication. We will look at various communication dyads including: adult-child, staff-staff, and staff-parent. Participants will end with some self reflection and individual team decisions about concrete ways they will implement some of the course content in their work.
