Understanding "Goodness of Fit" Between You and Children in Care

Our temperament traits influence how we grow, develop, and respond to the world around us. This applies to all ages -- babies, children, teens, and adults. Using temperament trait characteristics, you will practice assessing the "fit" of your traits with those of children in your care. Knowing the temperament of children in your care can help you adapt responses and increase your understanding of individual differences in children. Finding the strategy that "fits" for each child promotoes developmentally appropriate practices in teaching and resolving conflicts. You can also teach children how to recognize each other's temperament traits and appreciate individual differences.
