Three little words and Foster: supporting the foster care system, families, and young children
Southern Oregon Early Learning Services Hub in partnership with CASA of Jackson and Josephine County presents author, Ashley Rhodes-Courter, of the award-winning International and New York Times Best Selling memoir Three Little Words, detailing the inspiring true story of the nearly ten years Ashley Rhodes-Courter spent in the foster care system. In addition, there will be a screening of the documentary, FOSTER. With one in eight American children suffering a confirmed case of neglect or abuse by age 18, there are currently more than 400,000 children in foster care in the U.S., a number that continues to grow each year. Attendees will learn about the child welfare system and the impacts it has on children and families, with a focus on supporting families and learning to support resilience in young children. There will be an interactive discussion, question and answer, and written discussion questions to provide feedback.
