Using Positive Interventions to Support Children with Challenging Behaviors
Supporting children who have challenging behaviors begins with you! First, learn how your own behavior, emotions, and energy influences children's behaviors. Secondly, develop an understanding of the impact your room arrangement, schedule, and routines have on children. Third, learn the importance of developing age-appropriate expectations and how and when to teach, model and practice them. Lastly, learn how to implement appropriate consequences for negative behavior and how to use recognition, encouragement, and praise to get more positive behaviors. During the training, participants will spend time working in small groups to develop effective strategies, interventions, and expectations for behavior that you can easily implement in your program. Age Group: Preschool/School Age.
