Stacie Goffin, in her recent book, Early Childhood Education for a New Era (2013), states that the field of Early Childhood Education is in desperate need of “Fieldwide Leadership,” defined in part as “moving a field forward as a more viable, coherent, accountable, and respected field”. We critically examine discuss key questions related to field definition and essential leadership and identify avenues for personal and collaborative action.
