In recent decades, there has been a significant increase in the diagnosis of children with a variety of behaviors and symptoms that revolve around how children process information in their environment. Many times these children are mistakenly diagnosed under conditions that present similar symptoms as autism, or attention deficit among others. There are social, medical and educational factors that influence how we see and support the sensory processing of children. In this workshop we will introduce the concept of "sensory integration - sensory processing" and share ways that we can support children with specific sensory needs. In addition, we will present how we can create spaces that honor the sensory needs of children in early childhood.
