Exploring Expressive Movement and Dance in Early Childhood Education

Participants will explore the social, emotional, cognitive, intellectual, and/or physical development theories and principles to child care practices with a focus on the Total Physical Response Approach (TPR). Participants will examine effective approaches, strategies, and tools integrating language, literacy, the arts, science and technology, mathematics, social sciences, health and physical education, and/or life skills all through the lens of expressive movement, dance and rhythm. Participants will examine various guidance and discipline strategies to promotion of healthy development and relationships with an emphasis on the benefits of kinesthetic/expressive movement strategies.
