Kindergarten Readiness
A Developmentally Appropriate Approach to Self-Care
Hand-washing, wiping your own nose, dressing oneself, and eating independently are all skills we ask of kindergarten children. These skills are closely tied to fine motor skills, which are also required for kindergarten tasks such as using a pencil and cutting with scissors. In this class we will look at how you can support children to learn to care for themselves and develop motor skills at a pace appropriate to their age. We also will consider how our own background and beliefs influence our expectations around these skills.
