Promoting Intentional Adult-Child Interactions
Oral language development is one of the key predictors of later success in reading and school. Young children develop their language skills through intentional interactions with caring adults. This training focuses on ways adults can intentionally engage children in literacy rich conversations using dialogic reading techniques. Introduction to "Follow the C.A.R: (FOLLOW=Follow The Child's Lead, C=Comment and Wait, A=Ask Questions and Wait, R=Respond by Adding a Little More) as a model for engaging adults in meaningful conversations with young children.
