Family Child Care Business: Managing Risks and Insurance

After completing the class participates will be able to manage the risks of running their business. This class will focus on the following areas:
Identifying and following safe business practices with parents, licensors, and employees.
Handling child abuse/neglect allegations properly.
Knowing how to find and hire an attorney.
Making a decision about what business structure to operate under.
Establishing a pickup policy, a policy to care for sick and injured children, rules to reduce custody disputes, and policies that deal with privacy and confidentiality.
Complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Learning how to respond to restrictive covenants.
Identifying the proper business insurance policies needed to protect your home, business property, vehicles and yourself against personal liability.
Understanding how to find and pay for insurance.
