Introduction to Motivational Interviewing

This course provides training on facilitation and implementation of Motivational Interviewing (MI) strategies. The MI process and approach elicits and effects positive change in the lives of people struggling with life choices and personal behavior, affecting their overall health, well-being and function. This model has a broad application for all treatment providers, home visitors, criminal justice workers, healthcare personnel, educators and other human services practitioners. The training consists of a variety of small group activities in addition to large group discussions, videos, and experiential practices. Participants will review the conceptual model of MI, the role of the professional in the process and practice MI facilitation skills.
