The Fabric of Early Childhood- Weaving the Threads, Living the Questions

Early childhood professionals every day weave the fabric that joins them with children and families.  "The heart is the loom on which the threads are tied, the tension held, the shuttle flies, and the fabric is stretched tight." (Parker J. Palmer, The Courage to Teach).  During these challenging times, how can we keep alive all of our passion and commitment for those we serve and for each other?How can we translate our diverse programs, goals, and missions into a strong fabric of care and education for young children and families?  As a profession, as communities, and as a nation, how can we keep the children at the forefront of the questions that we ask?Candace Brey is a Senior Instructor of Early Childhood Development and Education in the Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Programs at Oregon State University- Cascades.  She has many years of classroom teaching experience with students form 2 years old to graduate school.  Candace also has strong practical experience in program development and work with children and families with tupical needs, special needs, and from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
