Activity Based Intervention

Activity Based Intervention (ABI) emphasizes child-directed contexts for instruction and the use of naturally occurring antecedents and consequences to work with children on their goals. During this course, participants will be introduced to the different components and structure of Activity Based Intervention (ABI). The course will focus on ways to intentionally plan intervention that addresses children’s goals by embedding instruction within children’s and families’ daily activities and routines. Participants will gain information on how ABI can be used to support their work with children and families within home based, classroom based, and consultation contexts. Attendees will have opportunities to practice creating embedded schedules, intervention guides, and activities based on videos and case studies.
