The Mayo Clinic estimates that 6-8% of children under age three are affected by food allergies. As a provider, you will encounter a child with a food allergy and may be the first person to observe the reaction to a food allergy or intolerance. Knowing what to look for and having a plan for how to give care can alleviate fear for you, the child, and the parent.
