Responding to Racial and Ethnic Diversity in Early Childhood Programs

It is important to create a learning environment that is sensitive and respectful of varying values of children of ethnic and racial diversity. In this training, participants will increase their knowledge and sensitivity to become culturally responsive in their approach with their program's children and their families. Participants will understand the danger of imposing their personal ideas/biases of race/ethnicity on the child. Participants will be encouraged to support education in bilingual development. Participants will learn to improve environments and utilize materials that reflect the cultures and/or home languages of children in the program.
