Playing and Learning in the Digital Age
Play has long been considered one of the most developmentally appropriate forms of learning for young children. In recent years there has been an increased awareness in the importance of encouraging children's playful explorations of nature. However, we have witnessed a concurrent proliferation of digital devices not only in children's homes but also in the vast majority of schools they attend. This presentation will examine the evolving nature of play in the age of digital access, will explore the controversy of young children's use of computer and will describe ways in which emergent technologies can be utilized to support playful learning.
