Paper Tigers Documentary
Long Term Effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences

The documentary "Paper Tigers" shows how Lincoln High School in Walla Walla, Washington, became a "Trauma Informed" school. As shown in the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACES), adverse experiences early in life can have profound and lasting effects, influencing behavior in high school and beyond. The documentary examines these effects and describes the "trauma informed" practices that were implemented to help build resiliency and change the trajectory of student’s lives. Early childhood practitioners can use this information to plan similar approaches and strategies with young children to build resiliency and coping skill.

Jim Sporleder, former principal of Lincoln High School, will be present to provide context and answer questions on the ACES and trauma informed practices.
