NEAR-Informed: Connections for Generational Healing CKC:PPLD
Developmental experience shapes the ways that we relate to ourselves, the people we care for, and the world around us. This workshop will present three ways that we can use the science in our caregiving relationships to nurture hope, equity and respect, and improve our competence working with people who have a history of Adverse Childhood Experience. The principles of trauma-informed care, opening hope-filled conversations, and the importance of self-care will be explored. Participants will be able to discuss the foundational principles of safety and social justice for caregivers and clients in the process of bringing Neuroscience, Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experience, and Resilience (NEAR) science into caregiving, know the basics of safe, supportive, and effective responses to a client’s disclosure of ACEs, and understand why self-care is essential for quality caregiving.
