Disorientation Affect: Exploring the Emotion of Chaos
During this presentation, we will explore what Ms. Phipps refers to as the “Disorientation Affect.” Learners will investigate the various signs and characteristics of disorientation, and explore ways it manifests in all our lives. Through a guided imagery process, participants will become aware of when disorientation may be happening (in themselves and others), and gain tools for effectively grounding oneself in the moment. Ms. Phipps teaches that awareness leads to preparation, which can reduce the effects of disorientation on learning, attention mastery and the continuum of basic life concepts for people of all ages and varying abilities. This will be a participatory learning experience, with handouts provided to enhance home study and self-reflection.
