Illiteracy is a national crisis. 35% of preschool children are not ready to be successful in kindergarten. 1 in 5 children are reading impaired by 4th grade, 25% of the adult workforce cannot read well enough to meet routine requirements.Goals of training:To understand the significance of children's first five years for building the foundation for learning to read.To become familiar with the six early literacy skills children need before learning to read and how to support them.To become familiar with Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library, workshops for parents and providers.
