Observation
The Heart of Authentic Assessment
The training builds on participants’ prior knowledge of observing to explore how authentic assessment is an alternative approach to collecting information. Participants will examine the essential role of observation as a systematic way to gather information about children, their daily routines and how it is designed to provide strength-based care & child-initiated learning. Participants will explore the six key practices for effective observation and develop an action plan to implement these strategies in their setting. Included in the action plan is the appropriate use of observation, how to share information with families & community, how to document & use observation, and how to develop an individualized curriculum plan.
