Self-Regulation skills have been called the “air traffic controllers” of the brain because they help us sort through and respond appropriately to all of the information and requests that we receive. Young children are still developing their self-regulation skills and may sometimes have difficulties in controlling their attention, behaviors, and emotions. Learn how children’s “controllers” develop and how adults can positively shape and promote development that is critical to school readiness.
