Hadiyah Miller Gathering for People in Early Childhood Education
Join the Threads of Justice Collective in a celebration of the life and legacy of Hadiyah Miller - a gathering of people in Early Childhood Education who are invested in Justice and Inclusion.
September 14, 10 am - 1 pm with optional 1 pm - 2 pm community building and (bring your own) picnic.
Hadiyah Miller was a pillar in the Early Childhood Field. Hadiyah's "50-year career in the field of Early Childhood Education for college-level students, community providers, parents, and children in a variety of Early Learning settings [was focused]... on advocating for anti-bias practice, equity, and access to quality early childhood education for all children and families."
This Mini-Conference will focus on topics honoring Hadiyah’s legacy (ranging from topics like rights of children to issues facing the field - like suspension and expulsion). We will have an opening panel followed by one set of 90 minute sessions.

Hadiyah was a teacher, a director, a master trainer, President Oregon Association for the Education of Young Children (ORAEYC), on the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), Portland board, the Chairperson for PDX NBCDI Early Care and Education Initiative focusing Black preschool age boys and girls in Multnomah County, a member on the Preschool for All Program Policy Task Force, a Co-chairperson for the National Black Child Development Institute and CCRR Multnomah Co. Expulsion Committee, and a Member of Mt Hood Headstart Equity Committee.
