Adventures in Art: Developing and Implementing Joyful Art Experiences that Focus on the Process, Not the Product

In today's fast-paced world, children are often told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. This is crucial for when the end result requires near-perfection, such as teeth-brushing or bike-riding. However, children also need opportunities to discover, explore, problem-solve, predict, play at their own pace, and follow their own unique interests. Process-oriented art allows children to create art on their own terms, where they are able to relax, focus, feel successful, and express their feelings. As a student in this class, you will learn the benefits and components of child-led art. You will learn which materials best encourage positive participation and joy and how to set-up and arrange a successful art activity. Participants will participate in an art experience to develop a strong understanding of process-oriented art curriculum. Age Group: Preschool.
