Session 3 - Building Children’s Background Knowledge

The more intentional and focused support young children who are Dual Language Learners (DLL) receive around language and literacy development, the greater their understanding and use of their home language and English will be. This session stresses the importance of developing background knowledge in young children who are dual language learners. Participants will learn about strategies to develop background knowledge, including involving children in interesting experiences and engaging them in shared reading.
